UNILAG RANKED 1ST IN NIGERIA IN 2026 TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has once again affirmed its reputation as one of Africa’s leading academic institutions as it emerged 1st in Nigeria in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The latest rankings, released on Thursday, October 9, 2025, placed UNILAG in the 801–1000 global band, where it shares the top national position with the University of Ibadan (UI).
This achievement places UNILAG among the distinguished 2,191 universities evaluated across the world, showcasing the institution’s consistent commitment to excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness.

Following UNILAG and UI, Covenant University and Bayero University, Kano, appear in the 1001–1200 category, reinforcing Nigeria’s growing visibility in global academia.
