JAMB Releases Official Guidelines for 2026 UTME Registration
JAMB Releases Official Guidelines for 2026: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released an official notice detailing the procedures and essential tips for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The announcement, shared via JAMB’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, outlines the key steps candidates must follow to ensure a smooth and error-free registration process.
Step 1: Profile Code Generation
Before beginning registration, candidates must ensure that their personal information—National Identification Number (NIN), email address, and O’Level/A-Level results—is accurate and consistent across all platforms.
How to Generate Your JAMB Profile Code
- Send your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 in this format:
NIN 00000011111
(Ensure there is a space between “NIN” and the number)
Important Notice
- Once you generate a profile code, you cannot change it.
- The system automatically retrieves your biodata from the NIMC database.
Step 2: E-PIN Purchase and UTME Registration
After successfully generating a profile code, candidates should proceed to a JAMB Office or any accredited CBT centre to complete registration.
E-PIN Purchase
- E-PINs must be obtained only through authorized channels, such as: Banks, Approved online payment platforms and Accredited vendors at CBT centres
Registration Process
- Candidates must use the correct registration template and carefully review and confirm all details before final submission.

Important Tips for Candidates
-
NIMC Corrections: Candidates must complete all corrections to their name, date of birth, gender, or state of origin at NIMC and ensure the changes reflect on the NIMC portal before starting JAMB registration.
-
Unique Contact Details: Each candidate must provide a personal phone number and email address, keep them active throughout the admission process, and cannot share or change them.
- Biometric Issues: If biometric capture fails, candidates should visit a JAMB office immediately. CBT centres should not force registration under such conditions.
- Dual Screen Verification: Ensure the CBT centre uses a dual-screen system so you can verify your passport photograph and biometrics are captured correctly in real time.
Common Registration Errors and Solutions
Error 550/66019 or “Wrong Parameter”
- This occurs due to an incorrect format.
- Use the correct command:
NIN [space] Your NIN sent to 55019 or 66019.
Number Already Registered
- The phone number has already been used to generate a profile code.
- Retrieve and use the same SIM card to receive the existing code.
Unable to Verify NIN
- Often caused by temporary network or server issues.
- Candidates should wait and try again later.
Record Not Found
- Indicates the NIN is not found in the NIMC database.
- Visit the nearest NIMC office for validation.

With this announcement, JAMB will soon commence the 2026 UTME registration. Prospective candidates should begin early preparations by practicing with the JAMB CBT software and the JAMB CBT mobile app.
